How do I send a moving announcement with Greenvelope?

Choose a design, add your new address and the date it takes effect, then set the colors, photos, and envelope liner. Import your contacts from a spreadsheet, from your email account, or from your Greenvelope address book, send yourself a test copy, and send by email or text. Each announcement arrives inside an animated envelope with background music.

When should I send moving announcements?

Send them once the move is confirmed and the new address is live, usually within about two weeks either side of moving day. If you want mail and packages redirected before you arrive, send a week or two ahead instead. If the move happened in a rush, sending a few weeks late is still normal and far better than leaving people with the old address.

What should a moving announcement include?

Your full new address, the date it takes effect, and any phone number or email address that changed with the move. Add a line about whether you are settled enough for visitors, and a photo of the new place if you have one. Leave out anything you would not want forwarded, since people often save an announcement or pass the address along to relatives.

Should I send a moving announcement or a housewarming invitation?

An announcement shares your new address and asks nothing of the recipient, so it can go to your whole contact list. A housewarming invitation asks people to show up on a date, so it goes to a shorter list and collects replies. Plenty of people send the announcement to everyone first, then invite a smaller group once the boxes are gone.

How much does it cost to send moving announcements?

Greenvelope charges a flat one-time price starting at $19, set by guest count, with no subscription required and no per-guest charges. If you plan several separate mailings over the year, an annual membership covers unlimited mailings for one year as long as each mailing is for a different purpose.

How does Greenvelope calculate people?

Each person (with or without email) added to the mailing list counts as (1) person. For example, "The Smith Family" of John, Jill, Tim, and Lauren would count as (4) people.

What if I am unsure how many people I need?

In this case, we recommend purchasing a smaller package initially. You can then easily purchase additional people from within your mailing on an as needed basis.

Can I send in multiple batches?

Greenvelope allows you to resend announcements or send announcements to new contacts at any time.

What if I need multiple versions of my card?

The best way to set this up would be to have two different mailings. You will need to purchase a separate "single mailing" package for each version.

Can I tell who has seen my announcement?

Yes. Your dashboard shows who has opened the announcement and who has not, and daily open rate summaries can be emailed to you instead. Every address is validated before sending to minimize bouncebacks, and you can resend at any time to anyone whose address turns out to be wrong or who missed it the first time.

Can I also send my announcements via text message?

In addition to email, you can send your Greenvelope announcements and cards via SMS text message, WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, or a sharable link.

Do you offer digital thank you notes or save the dates?

Yes, in addition to our digital invitations, Greenvelope offers both save the dates and thank you notes. Each mailing type provides easy-to-use features, such as address collection on save the dates and individual customization for thank you notes.

What if I need to update my announcement after I've sent it?

You can do that! One of the many benefits of digital invitations is that you can add additional information, update your card, or quickly follow-up with guests with ease.

Can I send a sample to myself?

Yes! When you arrive at the 'Send' step after designing your mailing, your account information will automatically be added so you can easily send yourself a test and make sure everything looks exactly how you want it.
